Power outages have left many county drinking water wells running on generators, so Okaloosa County is asking customers to use only the water they need. Water and sewer service on Okaloosa Island was still off as of Saturday morning.
Okaloosa County Water and Sewer is asking customers to conserve drinking water. Because of power outages, many of the county’s drinking water wells are running on generator power. Using only the water you need helps keep the supply up.
Okaloosa Island: Water and sewer service was still shut off as of 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The county turned off island water mains and sewage lift stations at noon Friday to protect the system from a forecast 7 to 9 foot storm surge. The county says it will update island residents by reverse calling and social media.
