Okaloosa Island water and sewer restored, but keep conserving

Water and sewer service is back on Okaloosa Island, Okaloosa County said Sunday morning. The system is still strained and some critical sites are damaged, so the county is asking all customers to keep conserving water.

Water and sewer systems on Okaloosa Island are back up and working, Okaloosa County announced Sunday morning, Oct. 11. The county shut off island water mains and sewage lift stations at noon Friday to protect them from Hurricane Isaias storm surge.

The county says the infrastructure is still strained and a few critical sites were damaged, so residents should keep using only the water they need.

That request applies countywide. Since Saturday, the county has been asking all Okaloosa County Water and Sewer customers to conserve, because many drinking water wells are running on generator power during outages.
